Murano is famous for the tradition of glass processing, the famous Palazzo Giustinian, the Lighthouse and the Basilica of Saints Mary and Donato.
Torcello is waiting for you to visit the Church of Santa Fosca, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the famous Ponte del Diavolo.
Finally, Burano, our advice, also famous for being the most colorful city in Italy and among the most chromatic of the whole world.
Red and yellow, pink and blue, green and purple: the small houses of Burano, usually two or three floors, have very bright colors for fishermen, who could recognize them from a distance during the long periods of absence at sea, or find them more easily in case of fog.
Burano is not an island but a small archipelago of four small islands connected by bridges.
The inhabitants of Altino, an ancient Roman city in the Veneto region, in the past took refuge here to defend themselves from the barbarian invasions and the name Burano derives one of the six gates of Altino, the Boreana, the gate from where the bora can be heard blowing more than any other.
Burano is located near Torcello, at the northern end of the Venice lagoon, and is famous all over the world for lace making.
In fact, to visit the Lace Museum, the church of San Martino Vescovo, which contains within it a painting by Giambattista Tiepolo, the well and the crooked bell tower and, among all the houses, the most famous is the Casa deo Bepi suà e, not to be missed, the only square on the island, dedicated to the famous composer Baldassare Galuppi, called “the Buranello”.
Burano is famous throughout the world for its delicate and refined needle lace but there is also a production of beautiful, unique and elegant Venetian masks.
