The Bardi Horse and Castle. Bardi, a small town in Emilia, is famous for giving its name to the breed of Bardigiana horses and for its castle, which has over a thousand years.
Let’s start by talking about the Bardigiana Horse.
The first specimens of this breed were taken by Belgian Gallia to the time of the Romans and it is almost certain that the Bardigiana Horse has ties to the Avelignese Horse, as the two races descend from the same father, the Arab stallion El Bedavi, raised by the Empire Austro Hungarian.
The mountainous area populated by the Bardigiana Horse was the main reason for the development of the Race as a mountain horse in the course of the centuries, and in the fifteenth century it was attempted to engage it by crossing it with Arab-Friulian horses, thus reaching a very horse similar to the current one.
For these reasons, the Bardigiano Horse is mainly used for trekking and walks, especially in mountain ranges, as well as lightweight horse, and because of its robustness and docility it is recognized as the ideal horse for walks and for nature tourism.

Towards the end of the sixteenth century, the fortress was partially transformed into a patrician mansion and now it is possible to visit it to admire the walkways, the towers, the piazza of arms, the courtyard of the portico, the well, the glacier, the granaries, the prisons and the salt of torture.
